Add another would-coulda-shoulda loss to the annals of Ole Miss history. Very apropos to yesterday’s loss is my post here about what it’s like to be an Ole Miss fan.
Turnovers. Turnovers. Turnovers. They are indeed killers. Ole Miss turned the ball over 3 times and it cost them the game. Yes, the defense just needed to hold with 1:01 left in the game, but that drive would have been meaningless without the turnovers. There’s not much else I can say except that I do think this was a moral victory in ways. I generally don’t subscribe to moral victories — a loss is a loss — but when you’ve come from where Ole Miss has been the last 4 years, this was a moral victory. The talent is there, and Ole Miss is playing without perhaps its best player, so I’m still optimistic.
Moral victories suck, but this was a moral victory with incredible quarterback play. I’d make the drive to Oxford to see #4.
I will make the drive to see Obama debate. Does he play football too?
It has been a full day since I witnessed another heartbreaking loss by my Rebels. I have a new take on the game than I did immediately following it however.
Ole Miss was the better team to me on Saturday. Had it not been for a few mistakes and questionable call (pass interference to set up game winning fg), the Rebels would have clearly won the game.
We were playing the 20th ranked team in the country on their field….not Memphis, Arkansas St or Tulane! This is an Ole Miss team that won ZERO SEC games last year.
I’m excited about our QB, WR, DL (when Hardy gets back) and most of all our coaching. Through two games, I have witnessed the best offensive play calling by an Ole Miss team in many years. We are averaging nearly 35 ppg with a brand new QB, offensive system and mostly freshmen RBs. We should only get better.
I look for us to go to a bowl game this year. We should beat Vandy, SC, MSU, Samford and LA Monroe at home and should beat Arky on the road. That would be 7 wins. If we could sneak an upset in as well, maybe the numebr is 8; however, I will stick with 7-5.
Maybe I’m back on the Rebel kool-aid but I like what I saw Saturday despite the final score.
Publius, stop in Jackson on your way up and I’ll make the trip with you.
Janey, Obama was going to play quarterback but he kept changing the plays.
Yack, ditto here. Look atop the SEC East standings and you’ll see Vanderbilt. It’s a rare sight.
Yall want to come to Red Stick? That may be your upset. But, you have to tailgate with my coon ass/Italian family. But Yack, you have to bring your own insurance.
Janey, what is Red Stick? Why don’t I know what it is? I hate when I don’t get a reference.
Baton Rouge. Or are you just playing with me to lessen the blow?
I’ve never heard of
Crap TownBaton Rouge being referenced as “Red Stick” before. Where does that come from?I’d be happy to go to a game in BR, but don’t they kill outsiders who can’t prove that they’ve had relations with at least one kinfolk? Oh, I kid the Tigers.
Im not sure I understand the incest joke. Is that the best you’ve got when it comes to dogging on LSU fans? And know that I can take it because I have been getting bullshit like that since I was in seventh grade when I moved to Mississippi.
But the invite is still open for I think my family’s tailgate party would surprise you in how friendly they are to outsiders. Stop generalizing. I like you even though you cheer for “them.”
Damn Janey, if you’re going to stay above the fray, then trash talking just isn’t any fun. Actually, as a lifelong Ole Miss fan, I’ve also become desensitized to trash talk.
We may take you up on that invite. I’ve yet to step foot in Death Valley.
NO WAY! I need you to come with me to my family tailgate. We were alot more vicious when we were younger. Now you would get verbally assaulted for about 5 minutes then you would get all the beer, shots, and food you could fit in your body, and all the great music you could possibly stand until the walk to the stadium…where we would NOT walk together for fear that people would think we are friends.
