Harvey Korman Is Dead

Posted by supercynic on May 30, 2008

The man I grew up watching on The Carol Burnett Show — remember he always lost it and fell out of character laughing once Tim Conway got on a roll — died today.

And who can forget him as Hedley Lamarr from Blazin’ Saddles? What a classic, and he practically stole the show. He will be sorely missed.

UPDATED: Notice how quickly Korman loses it after Conway gets started.

And I couldn’t help but throw in Tim Conway’s ad libbed elephant story that made everyone lose it.

I don’t know what used to make me laugh more…Tim Conway doing a skit on Carol Burnett or watching Harvey Korman trying to not laugh at him.

Anyway, those two guys were great comedic actors. He will be missed.

I read somewhere that Korman was very studious about his lines and making sure the timing was right and that Conway just kind of got the general picture and rolled with it. So, here’s Korman, the perfectionist, falling out of character b/c Conway was so damn funny winging it.

You will be risking your lives, whilst I will be risking an almost-certain Academy Award nomination for the Best Supporting Actor!
