Cows

Chances are that, unless you’ve lived your entire life in New York City and never ventured off the island, you’ve seen a cow in its natural environment. Excepting the eventual horrible death in a slaughterhouse, I imagine being a cow is a pretty sweet deal.

There’s no stress involved. Think about it.

Cows don’t have to-do lists. You’ll never see a cow feverishly scribbling down a list of tasks or any list for that matter.

No grocery lists. No Christmas present/card lists.

Cows have no appointments to make or remember. You’ll never see a cow rushing anywhere because it’s late or running behind. You’ll never see a perplexed cow — standing there with 2 of its legs on its hips, with a furrowed brow, as if it were thinking, “Now where did I leave my keys?” You’ll never hear a cow ask another cow to call its cell phone to see if it can find it.

I bet cows don’t gossip, wonder about the true nature of cows (whether they’re naturally good or evil), or wonder about God, whether there’s a heaven or hell. You’ll never see a street preacher cow in a pasture telling his/her fellow cows to repent for the kingdom of God is near.

Cows don’t have political races. I bet they don’t even stab each other in the back. They don’t jockey for position. They don’t jockey for anything. In fact, other than keeping in mind that barbed wire hurts, I bet there isn’t a lot on a cow’s mind.

The only stress that I could possibly see a cow having is wondering where it will stand at a given moment. “Should I stand and stare blankly here or over there? By the tree or down by the pond? Mmmmm.”

Cows don’t even have choices of right or wrong to make. “Should I eat this weed or that one? Will the farmer man care?”

No, none of this is going on in a cow’s mind. I think I could be a cow. Just think, right now there’s a cow standing, staring, and thinking…………..nothing.

A.H. sounds like a very smart man. He obviously wasn’t a cow. Cows are at home b/c a farmer put them there. A different place would be their home if not for the wire with the painful prickly things on it.

On a serious note, I understand what you mean.
